M.N.Roy proposed for the first time the idea of Constituent assembly in 1934 for framing a constitution for India
INC officially demanded Constituent assembly for India in 1935
The August offer given by British in 1940 for the first time allowed for the formation of constituent assembly after the second world war.
Cripps mission in 1942 also proposed for the formation of constituent assembly after the war.
The constituent assembly was made in 1942 under Cabinet mission plan.
Elections were held for making the constituent assembly
The members of constituent assembly were elected by Provincial assemblies by system of single transferable vote by means of proportional representation
